Beatriz Cardoso
An educator since 1978, Beatriz Cardoso received her Ph.D in Education fromUniversidade de São Paulo (USP) in 1997. She started her career as a PrimarySchool Teacher and since then both her work and academic studies have focusedin elementary education. She came back to USP in1990 as a lecturer at theEducation College, where she worked for 10 years. Cardoso has also received anspecialization diploma in “Teaching languages in the Primary School” fromInstitut Municipal d’educació de Barcelona, in Spain. She has written severalcontributions to education journals and is co-author of three books that ponderabout the way children are taught to read and write in school and about teachertraining. She has been ahead of CEDAC (Centro de Educação e Documentação para Ação Comunitária), as president of this NGO which works for the quality ofpublic Education in Brazil, for the last ten years.
