Zoonosis Control Center (CCZ)

The Zoonosis Control Center (CCZ - Centro de Controle de Zoonoses) plays a vital role in controlling disease hosts (rats, stray dogs and cats, etc.) and vectors (primarily insects).

Site Visit: Thanks to the leadership and support of Eliaci Couto, Coordinator of the Dengue Control Program at CCZ in Salvador, and Luciano Kalabric and Gilmar Ribeiro of the Centro de Pesquisa Gonçalo Moniz of Fiocruz, students had the opportunity to observe the CCZ's control program and activities.

Objective: Discuss mosquito control strategies and observe dengue prevention activities (identification of areas of mosquito population proliferation, identification of larvae of Aedes aegypti, procedures to evaluate indices of building infestation).
