Humanities
The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centro Juan Marinello (CJM), formalizing a program of exchange and collaboration between it and DRCLAS. The DRCLAS has also recently worked with CJM to publish a book called Culturas Encontradas: Cubay los Estados Unidos, which is the result of a conference held in Cuba in January 1999. The Cuba Program has similarly supported conferences and exchanges with the Casa de las Americas, another prominent Cuban center for cultural and humanities studies. The Program has encouraged exchange among researchers in the fields of history and literature by linking scholars from Cuba with their Harvard counterparts through our Visiting Scholars Program and our Faculty Travel to Cuba Program. Visiting Scholars from Cuba host talks with Harvard students and faculty and often have the opportunity to participate in conferences in the Boston area.
