The mission of the DRCLAS Regional Office builds on the “university-wide” mission of the David Rockefeller Center in Cambridge, that is, to increase knowledge of the cultures, economies, histories, environment, science, arts, and contemporary affairs of past and present Latin America by providing support to Harvard faculty, students, or staff from any part of the University to achieve their goals related to Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.
To provide better services than are now available to Harvard faculty already engaged in research, teaching or other professional activities by reinforcing ties between Harvard and local institutions that result in a contribution to the societies.
To facilitate and support new Harvard faculty activities and projects, while enhancing connections and synergies among existing Harvard initiatives with local initiatives and contacts from Harvard.
To expand in number, quality and variety the student programs offered by the Regional Office for Harvard students in the five countries throughout the year.
To promote the engagement of Harvard faculty with field trips involving Harvard students as well as supporting the exchange programs with local student´s academic institutions when they align with the University´s current needs.
To provide information and assistance to Harvard administrative and curricular entities in their educational, recruitment, alumni, and development activities in the five countries.
To collaborate with Harvard Alumni clubs to bring together the local Harvard community to exchange ideas, contribute in existing and new projects.
