Cecilia Velez

Cecilia María Vélez White joins DRCLAS as a Robert F. Kennedy Visiting Professor for 2010-2011. She is an economist with extensive experience in public management. She holds a Masters in economics from Louvain University and has done graduate work in urban planning at MIT. In addition to the eight years she has spent leading the Colombian Ministry of Education, she served as Secretary of Education in Bogota from 1998 to 2002. Previously she worked in various leadership positions in the Colombia’s National Planning Department, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Colombia’s Central Bank and in various private enterprises. While at Harvard, Velez will be affiliated with the Graduate School of Education, where she will also teach a course.
