Grants to Support Collaborative Work in Sciences, Technology, and Medicine

Deadline: November 1st (for Spring) and March 15th (for Fall)
Amount: $8,000

The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies is pleased to announce a series of faculty grants for collaborative work in the sciences, technology, and medical fields. Grants of up to $8,000 are available for activities to enhance and increase the collaboration between Harvard faculty in the sciences, technology, and medical fields with their counterparts in Latin America. These grants may be used to cover the costs of transportation, lodging, and incidental expenses for short term visits for research and consultation of one to two months, and to advance research that involves consultation between Harvard faculty and counterparts in Latin American institutions. Grants may also be used for course-based field trips that involve collaboration with a Latin American institution, and for collaborations of working groups. Grants can be used for collaborations that involve travel from Latin America to Cambridge or for Harvard faculty traveling to Latin America. Full time faculty members with teaching appointments at any school or faculty at Harvard are eligible to apply for these grants. Applications for these grants are due on November 1st and March 15th each year for funding during subsequent semesters or the summer months. For those who would like to take advantage of these grants for the fall of 2009, DRCLAS will accept grant applications on September 15th for visits during the fall semester 2009. Applications must include a brief narrative (no more than 750 words) describing the purpose of the collaboration, CVs of collaborating scholars, and a budget detailing the use of the funds. Applications should be sent to Paola Ibarra (pibarra@fas.harvard.edu). They will be reviewed by a faculty committee reporting to the Executive Committee of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. Funding for these grants is made available through a generous gift of Banco Santander
