Brazil Proves Developing Countries Can Use Generic Medicines to Fight HIV/AIDS Epidemic

Boston, MA -- Brazil's nearly two-decade effort to treat people living with HIV and AIDS shows that developing countries can successfully combat the epidemic. Inexpensive generic medicines are a large part of the solution, say researchers from Brown University and the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH).

Brazil did this, researchers said, largely by pursuing controversial policies that prompted pharmaceutical companies with exclusive drugs to lower their prices dramatically and generic companies to develop lower-cost alternatives for use in emerging markets.

O decreto, assinado pelo governador José Serra, foi publicado no Diário Oficial do Estado desta sexta-feira, 13 de novembro. O 25º reitor da instituição assumirá a Administração Central no próximo dia 26 de novembro.

Rio - Ex- alunos das universidades norteamericanas Yale e Harvard passaram esta semana no Rio de Janeiro em encontros com os principais empreendedores sociais brasileiros que trabalham na preservação da Mata Atlântica no Brasil. Eles fizeram parceria com o Instituto Terra, voltado ao trabalho de conservação e educação ambiental e também vão se reunir com ex-alunos das universidades que já trabalham no Brasil, na administração de iniciativas do setor privado.
