Carrefours / Crossroads
The paintings of Marie-H?©l?®ne Cauvin

For the Haitian-Canadian artist Marie-H?©l?®ne Cauvin, Carrefours/Crossroads are places of exploration and exploitation, remembered scars of reality and spirit. At times with a brush, at times with a knife, contrasting fluid wash with rough impasto, Cauvin constructs crossroads that serve as meeting places for images of an enslaved past and an oppressed present.
