finding aid for the "Fondo Justicia," covering the period 1876-1890;
and to air condition the stack area.) $20,000.
Archivo General del Estado Mérida, Venezuela. (A two-year project,
including provisions for equipment and staff training, to microfilm a
substantial share of the archive’s endangered colonial documents.)
$20,000. (Matching funds have been provided by Fundación Polar,
Venezuela.)
Archivo Histórico Provincial de Cienfuegos "Rita Suárez del Villar,"
Cuba. (A project to provide staff training in preservation, to supply
acid-free containers, and to improve storage conditions for the
Archive’s holdings.) $10,000 (via the Northeast Document Conservation
Center, Massachusetts).
Archivo Nacional de Historia, Sección del Azuay, Ecuador. (A project to
finish cataloging the Archive's holdings a task now 80% complete?by
processing the remaining 100,000+ documents.) $15,840; plus $7,920
supplemental grant.
Arquivo Público do Estado de Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (A project to
microfilm some 2,500,000 index cards for various secret/political
police archives that now form part of the Arquivo Público.) $10,000.
Biblioteca, Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, Universidad de la República, Uruguay. (A project to properly house and adequately describe the Archivo Campomar y Soulas, comprising the business records of a major textile firm from the early 20th century.) $18,572.
Centro de Investigaciones Regionales de Mesoamérica, CIRMA, Guatemala. (A project to equip a microfilming unit at CIRMA so that it can preserve endangered in-house holdings and also materials at other repositories especially municipal archives throughout Guatemala.) $20,000.

Archivo Andrés Bello, Universidad de Chile. (A project to clean, repair, and microfilm manuscripts of critical importance in the history of Chile.) $12,000.
Archivo de La Paz, Bolivia. (A project to improve storage conditions and establish a repair facility for the Archive’s historical holdings.) $20,000.
Biblioteca "Dr. Manuel Gallardo," Santa Tecla, El Salvador. (A project to repair, preserve, and microfilm scarce Salvadoran imprints from the library’s collections.) $15,000, plus $2,500 supplemental grant.

Archivo Departamental Puno, Puno, Peru. (A project to provide metal shelving for the Archive’s holdings, at last getting them off the floor.) $10,000.
Archivo General del Poder Ejecutivo, Oaxaca, Mexico. (A project to purchase metal shelves and acid-free containers for the Archive’s holdings.) $10,000.
Archivo Histórico, Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Ecuador. (A project to conserve endangered documents and to acquire a photocopy machine to improve service while lessening risk to original materials.) $5,000.
Archivo Histórico Municipal, Lima, Peru. (A project to improve storage conditions for the Archive’s huge historical collections and to reformat some materials.) $10,000.
Arquivo Público do Distrito Federal, Brasília, Brazil. (A project to improve storage conditions for the archive’s holdings by providing dehumidifiers and air conditioning.) $5,000.
Instituto de Historia de Nicaragua y Centroamérica, Managua, Nicaragua. (A project to assess and microfilm scarce newspaper and journal runs from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.) $10,000.
