Crossings: Mexican Immigration in Interdisciplinary Perspectives

Author: Edited by Marcelo M. Suárez-Orozco
Theme: Immigration/Sociology
Year: 1998

In the United States, immigration is the driving force behind a significant social transformation that took place at the end of the millenium. Arguably few other social phenomena are likely to impact the future character of American culture and society as much as the ongoing wave of "new immigration."

This cross-disciplinary book brings together 12 essays by the leading scholars of the most significant aspect of the new immigration: Mexican immigration to the United States. It examines who the new immigrants are and how they are changing American society.

Sounds like it would make a fascinating read about immigration. People don't realize how much immigration changes a country. When the news went up about the UK population crossing 61 million I bet you hardly anyone realized that was largely due to immigration.
