Tracking the West Nile

Harvard School of Public Health Professor Andrew Spielman is working to track the mosquitoes that carry the West Nile virus from the initial citing in Venezuela and Argentina. The project's aim is to define the duration of the transmission season and to determine how the virus survives the winter in the bodies of hibernating mosquitoes. In addition, Professor Spielman is seeking to devise improved intervention strategies in collaboration with mosquito-control program managers to assess the efficacy of various interventions.
