Can the Regional Office assist local universities to place their students at any Harvard school for research, study or work?

Although the Regional Office does not place students at Harvard, it can connect local universities with Harvard faculty or students conducting related research. Each university department and school at Harvard has its own website with information on its faculty and research. These websites can be found through the main Harvard website at http://www.harvard.edu

Does the Regional Office co-sponsor seminars or other activities related to Latin America organized by other universities?

Yes; the Regional Office hosts several public events including conferences, seminars, and workshops. Many of these events can be co-sponsored by local universities and research centers when there is a shared interest and usually when there is a pre-existing connection between faculty from Harvard and from the local universities.

Can the Regional Office assist local non-profit organizations and companies, willing to host Harvard student interns? Can the Office help them recruit some Harvard students?

Yes; the Office can assist local organizations and companies interested in recruiting Harvard students to do internships. Annually there is an 8 week Harvard Summer Internship Program (SIP) in Buenos Aires, La Paz, Lima and Santiago, from June to August, which brings Harvard students to work after having matched their interests with a work place. This service is offered during the whole year and not only during the Harvard summer.

Can the Regional Office assist people interested in getting a job at Harvard? Will the Office accept employment applications?

Anyone interested in applying for employment at Harvard should consult the Harvard University jobs site at http://www.jobs.harvard.edu and apply directly through the site.

Does the Regional Office receive applications for Harvard College or Post Graduate studies?

The Regional Office does not receive applications for college or post graduate studies. For graduate studies, each different school at Harvard has its own system of application and they give detailed information in their own website.
People interested in applying to Harvard should visit the Harvard website at http://www.harvard.edu in which they will find links to every Harvard School.

Is there any kind of Harvard course given by the Regional Office?

DRCLAS is part of Harvard University, but courses are not given in any of these two offices. The main function of the Regional Office is to work as a link between Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru and the University, facilitating communication between both sides and making interaction easier among Harvard Professors and students with the institutions and people in Latin America.

Does the Regional Office offer any kind of scholarships?

No; the Regional Office does not offer scholarships directly. DRCLAS Cambridge Office offers grants for students already accepted into Harvard University that want to do an internship or research related with Latin America as well as participating in any DRCLAS student program.

Also students from Chile accepted into graduate programs  at HKS and HGSE may apply to the Andrónico Luksic Fellowship Program. In addition, Becas Chile is another opportunity for Chilean students accepted at Harvard to apply for scholarships.

If you are looking for a full scholarship to study in Harvard, you should apply in your own country (governmental scholarships) or in private international foundations, such as the Fulbright Commission.

Are Harvard alumni organized through the Regional Office? Do you plan events or reunions for them?

All organization of alumni is directed through the Harvard Alumni Association for each country. Harvard clubs throughout Latin America organize events and reunions for Harvard alumni in the region. The Office does remain connected to alumni and will assist Harvard clubs and Alumni Associations with alumni activities in the region. Can people apply to the Visiting Scholars and Fellows Programs through the Regional Office?

The Office has information about the program available to interested members of the local community and organizes an information session about the program, but application information must be handled through the Visiting Scholars Program at the Center's Office in Cambridge. Can librarians interested in getting the funds to improve their collections apply through the Regional Office?

The Cambridge Office administers the Program for Latin American Libraries and Archives, with small grants to Latin American libraries and archives to preserve and improve the conditions of their collections. Applications are handled through the Harvard University library.

How can photographers interested in contributing to the extensive use of photos in ReVista get their work published?

Photo submissions are encouraged from throughout the hemisphere. However, there is no payment for photos except for a credit line.
