HKS Master students from Chile
Mr. Jaime Besa is an analyst with the Global Corporate Finance team for Deutsche Bank in Santiago, Chile where he is part of a six person investment banking team working closely with the New York office. Additionally, he is co-founder and director of Corporación CREA+ in Santiago, Chile, a non-profit educational foundation that provides free weekend courses to a low income community in Santiago, currently serving over 1,500 students with the participation of 250 volunteers. Mr. Besa holds both a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Mr. Besa will be a candidate for the Master in Public Administration Program in International Development and is expected to graduate in 2011.
Mr. Sebastián Bustos is advisor to the minister, Capital Markets and Public Policies, in the Ministry of Finance in Santiago, Chile, where he works on the improvement of the clearing and settlement system and does background research for labor market reforms, among other responsibilities. Prior to this, he was an economic advisor to the Bank and Financial Institutions Association in Santiago, Chile, writing macroeconomic and financial reports. Mr. Bustos holds an Ingeniería Comercial degree through the Faculty of Economics and Business from the University of Chile. Mr. Bustos will be a candidate for the Master in Public Administration Program in International Development and is expected to graduate in 2011.
Mr. Matías Mori is a lawyer with law degrees from the University of Chicago and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He has international experience advising Latin American governments on the petroleum industry, privatization, implementation of new hydrocarbon policies, and other issues. He has wide experience in negotiations and international arbitration. He has worked as a senior advisor to the Government on Chile on developing long term sustainable energy policies. Mr. Mori will be a candidate for the Mason Program/Mid-Career Master in Public Administration and is expected to graduate in 2010.
Ms. Alejandra Vallejos is a legal advisor with the Ministry of Finance, Chile, in the Juridical Advisory Department, with her primary focus in the areas of innovation, gender, taxation, privacy and corruption. Prior to this, she did paralegal work for the Corporation for Judicial Assistance for the Government of Chile. Ms. Vallejos holds an L.L.M. Masters of Laws in International Law (double degree) from the Universities of Chile and Heidelberg and a Bachelor’s Degree in Juridical and Social Sciences from University of Chile Law School. Ms. Vallejos will be a candidate for the two year Master in Public Administration Program and is expected to graduate in 2011.
HGSE Master student from Chile
Ms. Magdalena Infante works as an editor for the Beta Educational Society language program, where she reviews and creates material for middle school students. Additionally, she teaches a course on written expression at Universidad de los Andes. Prior to this, she worked developing the reading plan at Puente Alto Crece Leyendo, a project that implemented school libraries in 29 public schools in Santiago. She also taught at high school level at Santa Ursula School, while being head of the library’s team. Recently, she was Corp Member Assistant for the Summer Institute of the first EnseñaChile cohort. Ms. Infante holds a B. A. in Hispanic Literature and Linguistics from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She will be a candidate for the Master in Education Program in Language and Literacy and is expected to graduate in 2010.
