Activities with Chilean Medical Students

Chilean Medical Students HSI

Apart from shadowing doctors along with third-year students, HSI participants are invited to participate in a host of student-organized social events. The 2009 participants attended a play put on by Chilean medical students and with them even took a trip to the south of Chile.

“I am extremely pleased with the role of the UCH medical students in our time here. It's really given us the opportunity to not only learn firsthand about the medical school process here in Chile but also to socialize and become friends with Chileans our age. The trip to the south was very enjoyable and I absolutely loved the play put on by the medical students (although I didn't understand half of it).” –Jessica Cheng, HSI ’09 participant

“Loved ‘Quiebrespejos’ (play put on by medical students). It was hilarious and made us understand the social context of going to medical school and what it is like for students. Also, afterwards at the cast part they made us feel very welcome and we met a lot of nice people.” -Jillian Irwin, HSI ’09 participant

“The trip to the south of Chile was a great deal.  I got to know both the Chilean medical students and the students in our program so much better during the long bus rides.  It was wonderful to have people our age show us around.” –Aubrey Huynh, HSI ’09 participant
