Program Description:
The semester-length DRCLAS Study Abroad Program (SAP) in Buenos Aires, Argentina provides Harvard College students with the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Argentinean culture and the Spanish language for a period of five months while receiving transfer credit to apply towards their Harvard degree.
The Harvard student program coordinator based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, working closely with the DRCLAS Regional Office and the OIE, oversees the Harvard-administered Study Abroad Program in Argentina (SAP) and helps students enroll for Harvard credit at the three top local universities*:
Students have the option to follow pre-designed study tracks in human rights and social policy and community service programs, or they may design their own course of study.
*Suggested courses preferred by students who participated in SAP Argentina.
**Explore a list of possible courses for Social Sciences and Economics at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
To enhance the cultural and linguistic experience, students live with local families. In addition, the student program coordinator organizes an orientation week to ensure the students' smooth transition into life abroad and provides ongoing support as the need arises.
Additionally, Harvard College students can explore a variety of social, cultural, political and professional opportunities beyond the classroom. DRCLAS also offers non-credit internship opportunities while students are studying abroad for a semester, linked to students' area of academic studies such as community and grassroots organizations; cultural, health, and environmental institutions; and international agencies.
Students studying in Buenos Aires are invited to take a DRCLAS-organized trip to Santiago, Chile. Harvard College students who are coming to study in Argentina for a semester need a visa.
