Join us on Friday, April 24th, 2026, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm for a Fireside Chat with Claudia Mendoza, founder of Mami Chula Social Club. The conversation will be moderated by Ashley Rodriguez Lantigua, Graduate Co-coordinator for the LatinX Working Group at EMR, and a Master of Divinity Candidate '27 at Harvard Divinity School. Come and learn from the founder of MCSC on how a desire to heal her relationship with her mother led her on a journey into the power of reclaiming language, architecting intergenerational community, and the strategies and innovations behind creating the spaces we want to exist in through a feminist lens.

*This event is presented in collaboration with EMR's Latinx Studies Working Group, The Committee on Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights at Harvard University, and The Dominican Student Association, Concilio Latino, and Harvard Divinity’s Latine and Caribbean Student Association.*



 

 ### Claudia Mendoza

 A Dominican-American community organizer and cultural strategist, and the founder of Mami Chula Social Club- an intergenerational community she launched in New York City in 2018 to explore new models of belonging, leadership, and collective care among Latina and women-of-color communities.

Raised in Washington Heights, her work draws from the social infrastructure of immigrant neighborhoods and reimagines traditional social club culture through a feminist lens. What began as a small gathering has grown into a network of more than 1,500 members across New York City, offering cultural programming, civic engagement, wellness initiatives, and leadership development.

Mendoza’s work examines how joy, cultural affirmation, and intentional community-building can function as tools of resistance and collective empowerment. She is a proud CUNY alumna, holding a double major in political science and Latin American studies from John Jay College.
