#  México, ¿Cómo Vamos?  

 



 México, ¿Cómo Vamos? is an independent, non-profit organization made up by a diverse group of academics and specialists in the fields of economics and public policy whose objective is to generate research to aid in the evaluation of the country's performance. The idea is to monitor the progress of certain key macroeconomic indicators to understand the way our economy is moving in regard to a set of goals determined by our group of experts. Its objective is to promote our country's sustainable and accelerated economic growth. Futhermore, the organization seeks to communicate economic concepts in a clear and simple way so that they may be used as a tool to make an informed analysis about the economic state of the country. At México, ¿cómo vamos? we want to contribute not only by circulating economic information, but also by explaining the variables and indicators needed to promote knowledge of these topics.

 It also works as a bridge between the knowledge of the academia and public debate, discussing relevant topics to evaluate long-term impact. In this sense, we seek coordination between different civil society groups to be able to make an impact in economic policy.  
México, ¿cómo vamos? adds value to economic knowledge by evaluating each state’s performance. The economy as a whole is frequently analyzed, but state-level information complements this analysis and allows for more region-specific decision making.

 **Internship Description**

 A new government just took office in Mexico. The new administration is quickly implementing a wide range of economic and development policies that could both impact positively and negatively several economic indicators. Some of these policies include a program to provide young people who neither work nor study with professional skills, a program to give a universal pension to the elders, tax cuts for companies that operate at the border with the US, among others. The interns will analyze the impact of these new policies, and design ways to improve them.

 **Intern Qualification**

- Basic level of Spanish could be useful but it's not compulsory
- Preferred majors: Economics, Political science
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Design skills would be useful in order to translate economic data into easy-to-read infographics
- Interests: Students should have a strong interest in developing feasible public policy ideas based on hard data to address some of Mexico's issues
