During the week of August 12th, 2024, Steven Levitsky, Director of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS), visited the Chile office as part of an effort to enhance the office’s local impact while ensuring alignment with DRCLAS's overarching priorities. The successful visit centered on developing the 2025 strategic plan for the Santiago office, with the goal of strengthening its regional connections and local impact.

In addition to strategic discussions, Levitsky participated in the prestigious Cátedra Norbert Lechner on 'Resilient Democracies and the Rise of Populism in the World,' hosted by Diego Portales University (UDP). The event, held in a sold-out room, addressed a topic closely linked to one of DRCLAS’s key thematic initiatives: the "Defense of Democracy."

Levitsky also took the opportunity to engage with doctoral students, political science academics, and opinion leaders at UDP, sharing his insights on the significant external and domestic threats facing modern democracies. His reflections during these discussions were shaped by his recent books, *How Democracies Die* and *The Tyranny of the Minority*.

Furthermore, Levitsky met with several national and international media outlets during his visit. Below is a list of the comprehensive media coverage:
