December 04, 2017

The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies is pleased to announce the launch of the Mexico Innovation Fund (MIF) and a call for proposals from Harvard faculty seeking to conduct collaborative research in Mexico to be supported by the MIF. The MIF seeks to deepen research ties between Harvard and Mexican academia, in order to address Mexico's most salient, social, political, economic, and technological challenges. Proposals must address one or more of the current MIF priorities: (1) urban and reigonal sustainable development; (2) education, knowledge, technology, and innovation; and (3) citizenship, state capacity, and rule of law. Research projects must involve collaboration with a Mexican scholar or practicioner, be evidence-based and impact-oriented, and preferably suggest a policy recommendation for improvement on the specific topic of study. DRCLAS especially welcomes scholars interested in the themes listed above who have not previously conducted research on Mexico but would like to examine, test, propose, or put into practice their ideas in the Mexican context. "Innovation" and "technology" are understood in their widest sense -- from new equipment or machinery to a new method or approach. Awards will be up to 100,000 USD. The deadline for submission is February 15, 2018. For more information, please consult the Mexico Innovation Fund Grant description on our website. For questions regarding the application process or the eligibility criteria, please contact Edwin Ortiz, Manager of Academic Services at DRCLAS, at (617) 496-1588 or <eortiz@fas.harvard.edu>. For help or support in establishing partnerships with Mexican institutions and/or academics, feel free to contact Mauricio Benítez, Program Director, DRCLAS Mexico Office via <mbenitez@fas.harvard.edu> or telephone 52 (55) 6821-0251.
