Observers long considered post-Pinochet Chile a model Latin America democracy. However, the regime had some serious flaws, many of which were exposed by the massive wave of protests that rocked the country in 2019-2020. Those protests paved the way for a constitutional reform process. What can we expect from a constituent assembly in Chile? What are the opportunities for democratic renewal? What are the potential limitations of this process? What are the potential risks?
