DESCRIPTION:<p><span>Join us to learn about our 2026 Visiting Scholar Vanessa Sander’s work on prison lethality, LGBTQ+ incarceration, and challenges to accountability in Brazil. A postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Sander has conducted long-term ethnographic research in prostitution zones and prison units since 2012, culminating in an award‑winning book on the criminalization and incarceration of travestis and trans women.</span></p>
