Jennifer Eaglin is an assistant professor of environmental history/sustainability at Ohio State University. She is a historian of modern Latin American alternative energy development. Dr. Eaglin’s first project specialized in the history of sugar-based ethanol development in Brazil. Her book, *Sweet Fuel: The Social, Political, and Environmental History of Brazil’s Sugar Ethanol Industry* (Oxford University Press, Spring 2022) traces the ethanol industry’s growth from the 1930s to the 2000s with a particular focus on how the military dictatorship transformed sugar ethanol into a uniquely Brazilian solution to the global energy crisis of the 1970s. Eaglin’s work has appeared in such journals as *Environmental History* and the *Latin American Research Review.* While at DRCLAS as a Lemann Fellow, she will advance her next book project on the Brazilian nuclear energy industry.

Research Project: *Going Nuclear: The Rise of Brazilian Nuclear Energy*
