Maria Bovea-Pascual is a PhD candidate in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, with a secondary field in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her research interests lie at the intersection of Latin American literatures and cultures, utopian thought, queer/cuir theory, trans/travesti theory, and affect studies. Her dissertation in progress explores concrete utopias as spaces of aesthetic and affective resistance to oppressive contemporary contexts in literature and art, where glamour functions as a political and transformative force that renders difference both visible and desirable in the imagining of more just and inclusive futures.
