Please review the following information carefully before submitting your application for DRCLAS Summer Programs. All SIP applicants will apply through the same application on CARAT, whether for Brazil, Chile or Mexico-based programs. Students may apply to no more than 2 distinct programs.

*Before starting your application, please see options and locations of internship opportunities in the drop-down menu. Internships are sorted by area/field. Students should pay close attention to the internship descriptions within each organization.*

 • Students are able to apply to each SIP destination

• Once ready to apply, students may view, start, save, and submit applications via [CARAT](https:/carat.fas.harvard.edu/applicant/newApplication?applicationPurposeId=&fundingSourceId=3007):

 • All application materials may be submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese

• Selected applicants will be invited to interview in the second round of applications with DRCLAS

 • Notifications will be sent no later than February 8

###    Interviews  expand\_more  

 

• Interviews are a requirement of the application process. Every applicant must complete one! • Interviews are conversations that help DRCLAS learn about candidates, their expectations, and their goals • Interviews take place for ~15 minutes in the DRCLAS offices (CGOIS South, 2nd Floor) • Interviews are typically conducted with 1-2 DRCLAS staff members • Students applying to an internship in Chile and Mexico will conduct interviews in Spanish. Students applying to an internship in Brazil will conduct their interviews in both Portuguese (if relevant), and otherwise English

 

 

 



###    Funding  expand\_more  

 

Both graduate and undergraduate students who are enrolled, in good academic standing, complete the spring semester, and are returning for the fall semester as full-time students are eligible for funding. No separate application for this funding is required as it is part of your CARAT application to the program. Funding is based on financial need (through the University's Financial Aid Office). By applying to DRCLAS programs, you grant DRCLAS the ability to receive information regarding your need level through the FAO. 

 

 

 



###    Internship Opportunities  expand\_more  

 

Students can explore a variety of social, cultural, political and professional opportunities through all DRCLAS Summer Internship Programs. Students may participate in a non-credit internship or community service opportunities, linked to the students' area of academic studies, such as in community and grassroots organizations, cultural, health, and environmental institutions, and international agencies.
