10 Years of the Lemann Brazil Research Fund at Harvard University

The Lemann Brazil Research Fund 10-Year Report (2016–2025) marks a decade of collaboration between Harvard University and Brazil, highlighting the impact of 63 research projects developed through partnerships between Harvard scholars and more 170 Brazilian co-investigators from 70 institutions across 26 states.

Established in 2016 with the support of the Lemann Foundation, and administered by Harvard’s Office of the Vice Provost for Research and the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs, in collaboration with the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies through the Brazil Studies Program and the Brazil Office, the Fund has strengthened Harvard’s engagement with Brazil across disciplines. 

Over the past decade, the Fund has played a central role in: 

  • Fostering partnerships between Harvard faculty and leading Brazilian scholars.
  • Advancing research on Brazil’s most pressing social, educational, and environmental challenges.
  • Creating opportunities for students and early-career researchers on both sides of the partnership.
  • Expanding institutional ties, making Brazil one of the countries with which Harvard is most engaged. 

The publication showcases projects ranging from early childhood education and AI fairness to biodiversity, archaeology, and health equity; reflecting a shared commitment to advancing knowledge and building a future enriched by collaboration across borders and sectors
