Em comemoração ao lançamento da edição em português de Mercadores da Dúvida, a professora Naomi Oreskes (Harvard University) participa de um encontro online com o jornalista Thiago Medaglia (Ambiental Media). Em debate: negacionismo científico, desinformação, mudanças climáticas, regulação de plataformas digitais e os desafios contemporâneos para a democracia e as políticas públicas.

To celebrate the release of the Portuguese edition of Merchants of Doubt, Professor Naomi Oreskes (Harvard University) will take part in an online event with journalist Thiago Medaglia (Ambiental Media). The discussion will cover scientific denialism, misinformation, climate change, regulation of digital platforms, and current challenges for democracy and public policy.

This event will be held in English and will feature simultaneous translation into Portuguese. Registration closes on Wednesday, March 23rd. The event has a capacity of 500 participants and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend joining the session early to secure your spot.

Naomi Oreskes is Henry Charles Lea Professor of the History of Science and Affiliated Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. A world-renowned earth scientist, historian and public speaker, she is the author of the best-selling book, Merchants of Doubt (2010) and a leading voice on the role of science in society, the reality of anthropogenic climate change, and the role of disinformation in blocking climate action.

Thiago Medaglia é fundador e diretor-executivo da Ambiental. Jornalista com mais de 20 anos de experiência em ciência e meio ambiente, foi editor da National Geographic Brasil, é mestre em História da Ciência por Harvard​, foi pesquisador-convidado no programa Knight de Jornalismo Científico do MIT​ e é pós-graduado em Jornalismo Digital Empreendedor pela City University de Nova York. Lidera projetos premiados que integram dados, ciência e narrativa e que qualificam o debate público sobre clima, meio ambiente e resiliência socioambiental.​ Publicou artigos e reportagens em veículos como Folha de São Paulo, Uol, revista ESPN e outros.
