Global Leaders Program

For the second consecutive year, Doris Sommer, Ira Jewell Williams Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and Director of the Cultural Agents Initiative at Harvard University, led the 2019 Global Leaders Program’s 7th Module, “Cultural Agency; Engaged Aesthetics Towards Social Innovation”, with a Pre-Texts workshop in Frutillar, Chile for 40 international cohort members - motivated change-makers in community development through the arts. The group simultaneously partnered with more than 10 local NGOs to co-develop innovative solutions for local challenges, as part of the Fundación Plades social innovation initiative. DRCLAS Advisory Committee Member Arturo Brillembourg participated in the workshop throughout the week. 

Doris Sommer, represented the Regional Office as a faculty member of the Global Leaders Program, organized in collaboration with the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), Chile Chapter. Professor Sommer's four-day workshop “Cultural Agency: Arts, Process, and Innovation” took place in the Teatro del Lago, Frutillar, Chile.
