Daniel Shapiro Brings Harvard’s Conversation on Negotiation to São Paulo
What does it mean to negotiate with integrity in uncertain times? That was the question at the center of Professor Daniel Shapiro’s visit to São Paulo last week. A renowned expert in conflict resolution at Harvard University, Shapiro engaged with leaders across sectors through a series of thought-provoking gatherings.
During his time in the city, Professor Shapiro joined a private dinner with key members of the Harvard Brazil community, including alumni, current collaborators, and institutional partners. The gathering provided an opportunity for intimate conversation around the challenges of leading with empathy and purpose in divided times.
As part of his schedule, Shapiro also led a dialogue at the Harvard Brazil Office focused on “The Art and Science of Negotiation.” The session brought together a small group of invited leaders for a conversation on navigating conflict with integrity and effectiveness. Designed to encourage shared learning and fresh perspectives, the conversation explored how empathy, authenticity, and emotional awareness contribute to productive negotiation outcomes.
Shapiro also visited the Lemann Foundation, a key collaborator to Harvard in different capacities, for a focused exchange on leadership and social change. His final appearance was a keynote at the Harvard Alumni Summit, where he spoke about the role of empathy and trust in negotiations shaped by artificial intelligence.
Shapiro’s visit was part of a broader series of academic and community-oriented events hosted by the Harvard Brazil Office, which supports research, outreach, and collaboration in the region.
